COOP2 16: Ski Jumping

Ski Jumping must be about the closest a human can get to actually flying. I can't imagine the sensation of speeding down that slope and launching myself into the air, floating for what feels like forever. They look so weightless and effortless, though I'm sure there's a heck of a lot of effort going on there.

I was never one of those kids who wanted to jump off things. My sports were mostly the precision kind: swimming, tennis, and basketball. The kind that required the execution of carefully practiced technique. Not much on adrenaline. I have to imagine that ski jumpers are adrenaline junkies. How could they not be?

Today's bonus prize is the biggest of all. So big I have to break up the prizes among three winners. It's Buzz Blog day in the COOP and girls are giving away ten--count 'em TEN--books! There are so many I don't even have room for the blurbs.

Prize Pack 1

Prize Pack 2

Prize Pack 3

When the Buzz Girls get together, we go all out. These are some seriously awesome books, and some seriously awesome prize packs.

To enter today's contests, tell me what superpower do you wish you had? Would you want the ability to fly? (I bet the Olympic ski jumpers would choose that.) Or maybe to be invisible or walk through walls or to teleport objects or to telepathically communicate with others? Answer in comments for your chance to win Oh. My. Gods. and Goddess Boot Camp and one of the prize packs listed above.

SKI JUMPING CONTEST
Answer this question: What superpower do you want?

PRIZES

All three winners get:
(1) copy of Oh. My. Gods.

Hm, that's hard. Would it be cheating if I say I want the power that could give me the ability to have all powers? XD I would like to have the ability to teleport anywhere. Like, as far as I wanted. Therefore, I save on plane tickets!

Jill of The O.W.L. said...

I'd love to do one of two things 1. teleport so I wouldn't have to waste time getting places 2. be able to move things with my mind - I'd want this so I could sit on my couch and clean my house :)

Bianca said...

i would love to be able to be in several places at the same time. I did so envy Hermione when she got that Time Turner in the third Harry Potter Book.
The idea of enough time so one doesn't have to choose between things but do them all is very tempting.

Faith said...

Telekinesis. It would make cleaning the house SO much easier... and think of all the extra things I could accomplish! Multi-tasking galore :D

jpetroroy said...

I'd love to be able to freeze time, much like Evie did in that wonderful old show, Out of this World :)

MG (Loud Words & Sounds) said...

Oh, this one is hard. Teleporting I think would be the most fun. Especially since I would be saving the environment at the same time, by not having to waste gas with a car. But the other one would have to be super speed, so I can get everything done faster.

I would love to have the power to calm/change the mood of the people around me, like Jasper Hale in Twilight :)

Shy said...

I think it would be cool if I've an ability to read emotions and read people's minds. It annoys me when people misinterpret my behaviour so I think it would be cool if I can read others' without the need for them to tell me anything.

I'd love the ability to stop time, so I can take a day off and just sit around reading.

throuthehaze said...

I would either want to the power to teleport myself anywhere or to read minds.

Sherry @ Flipping Pages for All Ages said...

The power to absorb whatever power I am in contact with. Like Peter from Heroes. Except I wouldn't want to keep them all like in the beginning of the series, I would like to just have one at a time so its not overbearing.

Thanks for the chance to win an awesome prize pack and your books!!! :)

Kristen said...

Teleportation would be fantastic. Just think how much time you would save?

Bee said...

Hmmm...power is so tempting. I'd like to have the superpower to control all powers, like Rogue from X-Men. She acquired the powers of everything she came in contact with, right? That's kinda neat.

TinaFerraro said...

I think I'd like the nose twitch on Bewitched where I could make things happen at a whim!

van_pham said...

If i can have one type of power it would be either reading minds or the ability to move objects with my mind.

GABY said...

What superpower do you want?

I' like to have mind control, muajajaja! xD

Belle said...

I'd want to projection aka using other people's powers. It would be awesome to use the power of any one with a power around you. So yes, I would want projection.

emilimcg said...

reading minds. best power ever imagined.

Jessica said...

Definitely telekenisis. (I'm not sure I spelled that right :P) Anyway, I'd love to be able to move things without touching them. Awesome!

D.M.Cunningham said...

I'm writing a hero character right now that has the ability to control fire, turn to ash, travel along the wind and return to form (much like a Phoenix). I really like this power. And I like the metaphor of starting over and taking on new adventures.

Katy said...

I'm stuck between teleportation and telekenisis. Both would be awesome and incredibly useful.

kaymf said...

This is difficult. Either mind reading or the ability to be in several places at once.

Meggie said...

I'd like to have the power of water. It can do so much. Incredible desructive power and live-giving gentle-ness all in one element. In my most awesome water power-ness, I'd like to have control of the rain, but i'd settle for just being able to frezze people in blocks of ice, and have water appear in puddles/lakes/drops where ever I point.

lanna-lovely said...

There's so many powers I'd want. On the TV show, Charmed, I wouldn't mind having any of the witches powers on that - the power to freeze time or blow things up with my hands, the power to orb/move things with my mind (the orbing thing lets you kind of teleport almost, anywhere you want to)... those powers would be so cool. Flying would be awesome too.

Just choosing one, hmm, the freezing time one. That one could help save lives (like, imagine there was a fire, you could just freeze it) or would be useful to those of us that waste our time procrastinating *guilty*

Oh, or the power to heal people.

deltay said...

Hmm that's a pretty difficult question actually, so many great options to choose from! But I think I'll have to go with teleportation. I mean, it'd kind of be like Apparating (Harry Potter), wouldn't it? And it would be so useful if/when running late to just *snap* and get wherever.

Paromita said...

Telepathically communicate with others if and when I want to.

Yan said...

The ability to imagine then conjure up physically.

Penny said...

I would LOVE to be able to get all the great writing I do in my head into a Word document without having to actually type. (I'm the worst typist.) I guess you could call it telepathically communicating with my laptop.

Ohmygosh, how cool!
If I had any superpower it'd be the ability to shift. That way, I could manipulate anything to make it look like whatever I want!
The new model's hair is gorgeous... SHIFT!
I feel like flying... SHIFT into Wonder Women.

Pretty cool, eh? Or is this cheating?
Love, Hannah

I'd love to be able to control the elements with my mind! (like that cartoon show The Last Airbender) That would be so awesome :)

YA Vampire Books said...

Teleporting or time travelling would be awesome! Imagine how many places you could visit!

Pam Calvert said...

I wanna fly like Superman! Anywhere! Everywhere! (Oh, and being super strong and immortal would be nice, too!)

Well, this is hard, but I'd choose read people's mind, but when I want :)

I would love to have the ability to time travel! I'm a huge history buff and so I would love to go back in time and experience the events I learn in the classroom.

Minipulate time, most definately. (; That's what I used to day dream about all the time. If I'm tired, but got to get up, I can just freeze time, sleep as long as I want, then unfreeze time and be ready to go. I'm running late, and miss my bus? Go back in time, freeze, get ready, and get on the bus. Really long wait in the doctors office? Speed up time. It's the super power to end all super powers (;

Bianca said...

OH! I would love to be able to teleport or invisibility. That'd be wicked.

Vanessa Barneveld said...

Hmm, is willpower a superpower? 'Cause I definitely need some of that. Aside from that, I'd be happy with the ability to fly.

Anonymous said...

I would love to have telekinesis :)

Amanda said...

I've thought about this many times. For some reason Invisibility always comes out on top. I don't know why. I'd love to be able to fly, but being able to turn invisible would have so much practical value. You could be special and still *almost* normal.
So yes, I choose Invisibility.

emmiefisher said...

I think I'd have to go with being able to bend space and time like Hiro on Heroes. I wouldn't go back to change anything, I just want more time in the day to do the things I want to do. Like reading all those books, writing, crocheting, knitting, drawing, etc.

ReggieWrites said...

I want to have the power of Telekinesis. I've always found it really cool! Ever since I was about 8 or 9...now I'm 14 =) So it's been the power that I've wanted for 5 or 6 years =)

JB said...

Being able to teleport myself would be awesome. I could save so much time if I didn't have to spend the time driving everywhere!

Jasindo said...

It's extremely difficult to choose between speed and the ability to stop/control time. If actually given the choice, I would most likely opt for Hiro's power from Heroes (he is the "Master of Time and Space"). In the end, both powers revolve around the same basic principle of gaining time.

Heather H. said...

I would love to turn invisible like Vanessa from the Daughters of the Moon series. Except, it's not *normal* invisibilty since it involves dissolving into air. But hey, it also allows you to fly, so it's like having two powers in one!

Llehn said...

I would love to be able to teleport so that I don't need to take public transportation anymore.

YzhaBella (aka Kate) said...

I'd like to be invisible! There are many a situation where I would give just about anything the be the "fly on the wall!"

whitmosloski said...

I would love to be able to communicate and heal animals. It would be interesting to hear what my dogs talk about.

Annia Lennox said...

This is a hard question, but probably telekinesis.

agent_beckster said...

If I could have any superpower I would choose the ability to become invisible. That way I could just disappear when I get embarrassed or I don't want to see someone.

Bere said...

Wow this is a tough one! I would
love to freeze time, read minds,
and be able to travel through time.
It's so hard to just choose one hehe.
But if I totally had to, I would
probably go for reading minds. Oh
jeez I would probably get in so
much trouble hehe, knowing everybody's
thoughts. How intriguing! =)

Thanks so much for the contest!
Awesome prizes =)

Id like to have the ability to move super fast. It would be awesome.

I want to be able to teleport and be able to bring others with me! Saves flight costs when traveling with loved ones :)

Liyana said...

I've always wanted to heal people. In terms of physical and emotional health.

Shweta said...

I want to be able to read people's minds :) How awesome would that be ? When I am at it I would also want to be able to teleport. Super fun!

I wish I had the superpower to cure uncurable diseases.
and a power to write faster..: )

austenfan said...

I'd love to be able to cast spells (like repairing broken glasses, etc.), kinda like the Charms class in Harry Potter. :)

Just Your Typical Book Blog said...

Be able to become invisible whenever I wanted to. I would say fly, but I'm terrified of heights. I'd probably end up throwing up on some poor random person's head.

caitlin said...

If I had a super powere I would love to be able to see into the future...

Hannah (You can call me Super Girl) said...

I would love to be super strong and be able to fly. I've always wanted to fly but being super strong too would just be awesome! I owuld be like, Wonder Woman or Super Man in girl form! That would be so COOL!!!!! If i was a superhero i could be like"Have no fear, Hannah's here!" and then i could save the day! I could be Stan Lee's newest comicbook character!

Kate said...

I would love to be able to fly. I have always thought that was one of the coolest superpowers.

Erica said...

I would have to say either teleportation or mind reading. Mind reading could be so useful!

Michelle said...

For this one, I'd like to either have the ability to move things with my mind or to be able to heal with a touch. Both sound pretty handy and don't really require too much exercise...

Steph said...

That's a hard question, because each superpower that comes to me has a downfall. I would probably choose being able to change something with my mind. what I mean is that I can change the shape of something with my mind, and make it anything I wanted, or what someone else wanted. I think that would be pretty cool.

Alicia said...

I think I would want to read minds. I always want to know what people are thinking.

Spav said...

I would love to have the ability to control the elements: fire, air, water and earth.

i would like to have powers such as that of demigods from greek mythology. like the ability to be one with water if your a child of poseidon, or talk to the dead if your a child of hades...so on and so forth. thatd be cool =]

Wow, I was actually just thinking about this. I would love the ability to stop.control time. I'm always up late reading or doing homework and if I could stop time, I could procrastinate all I wanted.

God's gal said...

Whoa. That's temptation at its finest. What could I be? Hmmm. This is probably not such a unique answer but I would choose to have the ability to run super quick, like - let's say - Edward Cullen (y'know, off the top of my head? Ha ha). I just hate slowing my friends down when they want to speed up during our jog, so I'd rather surpass them than lag behind and have them huff and puff and run out of enough breath to blow a house down :)

I am such an awkward person in new social situations, so I think that I would love to be a chameleon (not literally, of course) like Cammie is in Ally Carter's Gallagher Girls series so I can fit into whatever social situation wherever I end up!
