Monday Giveaway: Mermaid

A new Monday Giveaway, and this week you have the chance to win a signed copy of Mermaid by Carolyn Turgeon (of the awesome blog I am a mermaid).

Princess Margrethe has been hidden away while her kingdom is at war. One gloomy, windswept morning, as she stands in a convent garden overlooking the icy sea, she witnesses a miracle: a glittering mermaid emerging from the waves, a nearly drowned man in her arms. By the time Margrethe reaches the shore, the mermaid has disappeared into the sea. As Margrethe nurses the handsome stranger back to health, she learns that not only is he a prince, he is also the son of her father's greatest rival. Sure that the mermaid brought this man to her for a reason, Margrethe devises a plan to bring peace to her kingdom.

Meanwhile, the mermaid princess Lenia longs to return to the human man she carried to safety. She is willing to trade her home, her voice, and even her health for legs and the chance to win his heart...

A surprising take on the classic tale, Mermaid is the story of two women with everything to lose. It will make you think twice about the fairy tale you heard as a child, keeping you in suspense until the very last page.

Carolyn and I were together at the Mermaid Ball in Las Vegas last year, where I got to me several real life mermaids (like Kylee, the reigning mermaid queen and official Weeki Wachee mermaid).

To enter this giveaway, tell me what you would do if you met a real life mermaid queen.

I'm Still Here!

It's deadline time, which means I'm scarce on the blog for the next few days (or weeks). I'm still hanging out on Twitter--how else am I going to procrastinate?--so if you need some TLC come find me over there. And cheer me on, because (sadly) Sweet Venom 3 isn't going to write itself.

Hugs,

Old Poems: I WALK ALONE

When I posted about Robert Frost's birthday a few weeks back, I threatened to share an old poem of mine here on the blog. Well, some of you seemed interested--you might live to regret that--so here goes...

A silver lining on the clouds of night
Radiated forth by the moon so bright
As I walk alone under the light
My image of love lingers in sight
For never has passion felt so right
Than when love is given without a fight
So the heart and soul soar to the height
Of the silver lining on the clouds of night.

Dated August 2, 1996. Keep in mind I wrote this in college (when I was starstruck by a gorgeous actor performing at the Colorado Shakespeare Festival). I won't dare ask for your thoughts, but feel free to share poems of your own in comments.

Hugs,
TLC
