A Weekend in Vegas (Days 2-4)

(My continuing adventures in Las Vegas last weekend.)

Found a hot pink VW beetle that happens to match the sash on the cover of OH. MY. GODS. (The license plate, by the way, is BARBIES.)

At the lion environment at the MGM Grand, Mr. Lion himself made a big show by settling himself for a nap on the roof of the plexiglas tunnel. He is like two feet above a bunch of tourists--some of which decided to climb up using the sprinkler pipes and "kiss" him. Can we say lion snack food?

We ventured out into the desert (seriously, there is nothing out there) in the 115 degree heat.

Our travels led to the Pioneer Saloon in Goodspring, NV. The Pioneer is a classic biker bar (please note all the motorcycles lined up out front). We went inside and, amazingly enough, they were all very nice. (Well, except for the two college boy posers who looked like they rode in on tricycles.)

This is the road out of Goodspring. See, nothing as far as the eye can, um, see.

On our way back to Vegas we took a detour through Sandy Valley. They take their littering very seriously. (Makes "Don't Mess With Texas" sound like a camp song.)

Back in the relative civilization of Vegas we headed back to the Rio to watch some of the World Series of Poker. I'm kind of a gushing fan-girl when it comes to poker stars. We saw Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harmon, Chris Moneymaker, and (see the photo below) Jean-Robert from Survivor: China. (And I always thought he was full of it when he said he was a poker player!)

Oh, and here's my dad talking on the phone next to Scottie Nguyen's car (a sweet Jaguar convertible with the license plate NL BABY).

Tune in tomorrow (Saturday) for the final installment and also to get a hint about next week's super-big-fun-contest.

Hugs,
TLC
