New Jersey

When I last checked in I was on the train out of New York City, heading for Philadelphia. My aunt and uncle live on a small farm in the city of Moorestown, New Jersey. Now, anyone who's heard the jokes about New Jersey might be wondering what kind of farm they could have in the state of mobsters and oil refineries. Let me show you...

First, the park that abuts the rear of their farm.

It's protected because a bald eagle nested there. On our quick walk along the trail we also saw geese, ducks and other birdlife. Also, they have beavers! Check out their dam and lodge.

They've been busy beavers! (Hahaha. Okay, I'll stop.)

And just in case you're not convinced, here's the view from their family room.

I spent many hours in that room, lounging on their insanely comfortable couch, playing Scrabble (I won 2 out of 3!) and curled up in the armchair in front of the fire.

All in all it was a very relaxing sojourn--which is exactly what I wanted so I would be ready for my great Canadian adventure. I did a round of laundry, made many trips to Starbucks and Wegman's (an amazing grocery store) and just generally chilled.

I'll leave you with the adorable Fidget, a sweet feline living with friends of my aunt and uncle, whom I met on the way to the great Boy Scout Spaghetti Dinner my second night in New Jersey.

Check back soon for my post about the first leg of my travels in Canada. It's already been memorable.

Hugs,
TLC
