Two years ago, for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and the release of Oh. My. Gods., I ran a huge, seventeen-day contest of giveaways. Well, guess what? I'm doing it again!
I present to you, the second semi-annual Contest of Olympic Proportion (aka COOP2) in honor of the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada, and my cross-country running character Phoebe Castro. For the next seventeen days, as the best athletes in the world will compete for the honor of calling themselves Olympic champions, you will have chance after chance of winning some truly fabulous books and other prizes.
One of the coolest things about this year's Olympics, I think, is how interactive it's going to be. There's already been tons of talk about how America skier Lindsey Vonn shared the news of her shin injury via Facebook. The IOC has granted athletes permission to Tweet their experiences and is, in fact, running it's own Twitter feed for the games or you can fan them on Facebook. You can find a list of verified Olympic athletes and NBC has a list of Tweeting Olympic athletes as well as lists by sport. (Sure to be entertaining are the snowboarders and the figure skaters.)
Did I mention the contest will be huge? Every day of the games there will be a different contest--devoted to a different winter sport--where you will have a chance to win a signed copy of both Oh. My. Gods. and Goddess Boot Camp and at least one other great book. I have a bunch of awesome authors lined up to donate their books, so you will not be disappointed! (And, if you already have one or both of my books, you can trade for a totally top secret first chapter of Forgive My Fins, which doesn't come out until June.) To enter the daily contests, all you have to do is comment on those posts.
Also, there will be a Gold Medal Contest with a very special prize pack of a bunch of fun mermaid gear and an ARC of Forgive My Fins. I'll post more info on how to enter the Gold Medal Contest (and pictures of the great prizes) later today.
All winners will be chosen at the end of the contest (aka the end of the Olympics) so you have until midnight Pacific time on February 28 to enter each and every contest. (And, yes, you can enter them all!)
Check back later today (when the Opening Ceremonies start) for the first contest...
Hugs,
TLC
